Well the fact that you have made it this far is a good sign!

The premise for the competition is to use military rifles and ammunition in as near as possible to ‘as issued’ format in a competitive environment. Please take the time to read the following resource pages thoroughly and if you have any questions, please get in touch with the Match Director for clarification.

Although the rules are based on the New Zealand Service Rifle Association Service Match Code 4, this is a Bruce Rifle Club run competition and some rules have been ignored, tweaked, added to, relaxed, or just removed. Like previous years we plan to have a fun, relaxed shoot on the day but the rules are there to make sure everyone has a fair and sporting chance, so please enter in the spirit of the competition. Also take note of the Range Standing Orders, these will be adhered to strictly, without exception and remember when on the mound, pay close attention to the Range Officer.

We will be organising the squadding details well in advance in order to accommodate competitors who may be sharing one rifle, entering more than one class or travelling from further afield. The sooner you get your entry in, the better! Cut-off date is advertised on the posters and is typically the Thursday before competition day. We will no longer accept entries or payments past this date or on the day. So if you want to enter, GYST and get organised!

If you do not have a firearms license you can still enter, but you will be restricted to an A-cat rifle only and will need to be under direct supervision while at the firing line. Please don’t let this put you off, it’s just the law, so do enter and give it a go. If you plan on shooting an E-cat MSSA, you must have an E-cat endorsement and be able to prove it on the day, so bring your license with you.

We need the information on the entry form in order to run a successful and efficient competition and the info you supply is what we use, so please make sure it's correct. We will only use your information for the purpose of the BRC SRC and will not pass your information on to third parties.

The competition consists of three classes and you many enter as many as you like. The classes are;

  • Bolt Action Open Sight
  • MSSA Open Sight (includes A-cat Semi-Autos)
  • MSSA Optical Sight (includes A-cat Semi-Autos)

The range is situated on Narrowdale Road, Milburn and will be sign posted from State Highway 1 at the Milton Prison turn off. Please be at the range by 0830hrs to sign in and collect your competitor’s tag (this will have your squadding details on it). The competition briefing will start promptly at 0845hrs and the first detail will start shooting at 0900hrs.

Around 12pm we will stop shooting for lunch and BBQ food & refreshments will be available for a minimal charge. Shooting will resume at 1pm sharp.

At the end of the competition will be prize giving. A trophy will be awarded to the top shooter in each class. The trophies maybe engraved with the winners name and date and are to be returned in time for the following years shoot. Trophies remain the property of Bruce Rifle Club. We will also be holding a prize draw for prizes that have been very kindly donated by our sponsors.

Very basic toilet facilities are available at the Club Hut. Ample parking is available at the club hut, adjacent to the mounds or alongside the access track, but please be mindful not to block in other vehicles.

We must also thank to our landlord, Wenita Forest Products (www.wenita.co.nz), for ensuring the public access to the range on the day for our non-member visitors.

We hope to see you on the day!
